What is An Fue Hair Transplant
What is a hair transplant?
Creating the most natural hair transplant results, requires in depth consultation and planning.
A hair transplant operation is a procedure that involves moving hair from one part of the scalp, which is the donor area, to the bald area of the scalp.
The surgeon usually moves hair from the back and side of the head to the front or top of the head.
Hair transplanting is considered a minor operation performed under local anaesthesia in a treatment room.
The procedure is used to treat baldness due to genetic (familial), hormonal hair loss, injury or other rarer conditions. In addition, many men find that a hair transplant can restore a more youthful appearance boosting their self-esteem and well-being.
Pattern baldness is responsible for most hair loss conditions and usually runs in families. It is due to the genes prevalent in the family members. The other hair loss cases are due to various factors, including:
- Diet
- Stress
- Illnesses
- Hormonal Imbalance
- Medications
What is an FUE hair transplant?
FUE (Follicular Unit Excision) involves removing groups of healthy hair follicles from the donor area – usually the back or sides of the head – and reimplanting them into the bald or thinning area.
We create natural hair transplants with faster recovery times and minimal scarring using the latest minimally invasive hair restoration techniques. This means patients can wear their hair as short as they would like after a successful surgery without much visible scarring.
No Linear scar
One of the benefits of FUE is that it does not leave a linear scar as with the traditional strip method.
- Short hair: FUE allows patients to wear their hair much shorter than with a strip harvest because there is no visible scar.
- Shaving the donor area: To perform FUE, the donor area of the scalp must be shaved or clipped short so that the hair follicles can be easily accessed and excised. Depending on the patient's preference, this may or may not be an issue.
- Thinning of the donor area: If a patient undergoes multiple FUE sessions, there is a risk of thinning the donor area, as only a limited number of viable hair follicles can be excised. Assessing each patient's donor area carefully before recommending additional sessions is essential.
- Tiny dots: FUE does not leave a visible linear scar, but it does leave small circular scars where the follicles were excised. These can appear as tiny dots if the hair is wholly shaved but are usually not noticeable if the hair is kept at a reasonable length.
